23 December 2019 In the last 5 the Guardia di Finanza has taken away from the mafias mobile and real estate for 18 billion, a figure that corresponds to over 1% of GDP.

From the data it emerges that from 2015 to today assets for about 7 billion euros have been confiscated, definitively returned to the state coffers while the seizures amount to almost 11 billion.

Confiscations and seizures are the result of over 10 thousand investigations carried out by financiers, with an average of more than 5 per day, and about one million inspections per year.

Overall, in the 5 years analyzed, the property assessments concerned 55 thousand people, 30 per day.

The confiscations and seizures were reached through proceedings against 'qualified' dangerous persons, persons suspected of serious crimes, and those 'socially dangerous', or in the context of anti-money laundering investigations, aimed at identifying investments in' safe-haven assets : diamonds, precious metals, paintings and archaeological finds.
