The Minister of Infrastructure Development, Dr. Eng. Abdullah bin Muhammad Belhaif Al-Nuaimi, announced that the Ministry’s plan for the years 2017/2021 aims to implement 36 projects within its investment program, in the security, educational, health and service sectors, in addition to federal methods and maintenance, at an estimated cost of 10 Billions of dirhams, pointing out that these projects come to meet the needs of the various regions of the state, and keep pace with the rapid growth witnessed by the state, which requires providing a base and advanced infrastructure to accommodate this development.

This came during the media briefing organized by the Ministry in its office in Dubai yesterday, during which the Minister talked about future work plans and its role in supporting the state’s orientation in preparing for the next fifty years, and the most important future vital projects that the ministry aims to implement within its plans, in addition to the current projects and their accomplishments during the year Ongoing.

Al-Naimi indicated that the budget is divided into projects for the implementation and maintenance of government buildings at a cost of 6.62 billion dirhams, and the implementation and maintenance of federal roads at a cost of 3.38 billion dirhams.

He stated that the 36 projects are divided into four projects, “implementing roads”, at an estimated cost of 780 million dirhams, the launch of the new generation of six health centers and hospitals at an estimated cost of 350 million dirhams, and security building projects at a cost of 525 million dirhams, as well as four projects for the new generation From schools with 600 million dirhams, and five projects for public government buildings at a cost of 152 million dirhams, in addition to the Emirates Street development project, which includes development that costs about 200 million dirhams, intersections of land and tunnels, and raising the capacity of the road, so that it contributes to improving connectivity and communication between Urban compounds on On both sides of the road, it also serves to launch flights from the eastern coast of the Emirates via Khorfakkan Street.

The projects also include the development of Al Ittihad Street linking the emirates of Sharjah and Dubai, which the Ministry intends to launch its tender during the next year 2020, and the development process, which will have an estimated cost of 230 million dirhams, will include the Al Nahda intersection, the Al-Khalifa caliphate intersection, and raising the road capacity by 3000 vehicles / An hour in each direction, in addition to separating the slow movement of traffic within a service road consisting of two lanes in each direction, for a distance of 2.5 km at the beginning of the Emirate of Sharjah with its borders with the Emirate of Dubai, and it is expected to complete the development of Al Ittihad Street within two and a half years.

The Ministry will work on developing Al Dhaid Street with a length of 30 km, as it aims to expand the road to three lanes, in addition to constructing a new bridge within the project, at an estimated cost of 220 million dirhams, which contributes to raising its capacity at a rate of 2000 vehicles / hour per direction, as well as An additional lane will be allocated for trucks, within the project, which reduces traffic accidents and the expected delay caused by the slow traffic of trucks.

The Ministry will also implement the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street development project, at a cost of 130 million dirhams. The project will include the development of two bridges at the intersections and raising the capacity, so that this contributes to raising the level of service from E to C, which contributes to reducing traffic congestion and traffic accidents , And raise the road’s capacity by 40%.

Al-Nuaimi said: “We are keen at the Ministry of Infrastructure Development to implement leadership directions and launch initiatives and projects in support of the state’s orientation and preparedness for the fifty. On the projects completed by the Ministry during the past five years, Al-Naimi reported that it had completed 55 vital projects, amounting to four billion and 520 million dirhams, and includes security projects worth 574 million and 500 thousand dirhams, and educational projects of 394 million dirhams, in addition to health projects worth one billion and 297 million And services with 65 million, while the value of federal road projects that the Ministry completed in implementation amounted to one billion and 135 million, and others related to maintenance and road additions, buildings and dams at a value of one billion and 54 million dirhams.

He pointed out that the projects of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development are considered one of the most important tributaries of the civilized development that depends on it in improving the living conditions of the population and providing basic services to the residents of the state, and it is one of the vital and important sectors that contribute to increasing the growth of the national economy, which made it receive significant government attention and highlight On projects implemented by the Ministry.

Regarding the federal roads, Al-Naimi indicated that the lengths of the federal roads amounted to 771.5 km, indicating that the Ministry carried out 3205 corrective maintenance operations for the federal roads during the current year, compared to 56665 during the past year 2018, while the number of preventive maintenance operations reached 3709 during the current year compared to 34459 In 2018, while the Ministry completed 47 transactions to determine the distance, 190 to estimate the value of road damage, and issued 145 no-objection certificates.

He pointed out that the ministry is currently supervising the implementation of many vital projects that serve the comprehensive development system in the country, and contribute to supporting the process of construction and development, and supports the state's position within the indicators of global competitiveness, most notably, a project to develop and raise the efficiency and completion of the Maliha Road from Sheikh Khalifa Street and E99 Road And linked them «stage-first», where the cost of the project expected to be completed during the first half of next year 169 million dirhams.

The projects overseen by the Ministry also include the construction and completion of the General Command building of Sharjah Police, at a cost of 167 million and 264 thousand dirhams, and it is expected to be completed during the second quarter 2020, as well as a project to maintain, develop and raise the efficiency of Hamad Bin Abdullah Road in the Emirate of Fujairah, where The project, with an estimated cost of 250 million dirhams, is expected to be completed during the first quarter of next year.

The Ministry is also currently overseeing the implementation of the road linking Sheikh Khalifa Street in the Emirate of Fujairah with the Naval Kutm Center and the E99 Road, the second phase, where it is expected to complete the project, which has an estimated cost of 83 million dirhams, during the next year 2020, in addition to the construction and completion of the defense center projects Civilization in Umm al-Quwain, construction and completion of the Labor Office building - Ras al-Khaimah, in addition to the project to construct and complete the building of the Special Security Forces Command - Ras al-Khaimah.
