Chelsea won hands down (2-0) the London derby against Tottenham and retained their 4th place on Sunday after the 18th day, while the return of Paul Pogba was not enough for Manchester United, beaten at Watford (2-0).

. Chelsea teach Tottenham the lesson:

Chelsea defended with authority its 4th place and the ticket for the Champions League which is attached by going to win (2-0) at Tottenham with a double from the sparkling Willian.

If Frank Lampard refuted before the match to be a disciple of José Mourinho, of whom he was one of the executives as a player, his team still gave the lesson to that of the master.

A lesson of determination, a lesson of commitment and also a tactical lesson, with a defense with three central emerged to counter the great mobility of Dele Alli, Son Heung-min or Lucas Moura.

We hardly saw the attack on Spurs and their very poor performance, after a victory as miraculous as undeserved in Wolverhampton last week (2-1), is a red flag for the Londoners in whom the Mourinho effect seems to fade.

Especially since in eight games under his command, Tottenham only kept their clean sheet once, which is very unusual for a team coached by the Portuguese.

For its part, Chelsea had the reaction of pride claimed by Lampard after the defeat against Bournemouth (1-0).

Impactful and dynamic, the Blues have left a constant threat to the opposing defense with an omnipresent N'Golo Kanté and an untenable Mason Mount-Willian duo.

The Brazilian was rewarded with a double, a chain of dribbling outside - a strike wrapped in the small opposite net (1-0, 12th) and a penalty converted after a huge foul by Paulo Gazzaniga on Marco Alonso which he had launched from a clever ladle (2-0, 45 + 4).

The return of Christian Eriksen on the return from the locker room, in place of the most defensive Eric Dier, did not change the balance of power and to make matters worse, Son was kicked out for wiping his crampons on Antonio Rüdiger at the hour of play.

The German defender seems to have been the victim of racist insults after this incident, the stadium announcer making three announcements to demand that they stop.

. Pogba cured, Manchester relapses:

"Strong against the strong, weak against the weak" seems to be the motto of Manchester United, beaten by the red lantern Watford (2-0), a sad privilege that he shares only with Norwich, 19th ...

Relaunched in the Champions League race by beating Tottenham and City back home in the derby, the Red Devils could climb to 5th place by winning, despite the draw against Everton (1-1) last week.

But they made a distressing copy, punctuated by a huge blunder by David De Gea on a bizarre but little supported recovery from Ismaïla Sarr (1-0, 50th) and by a penalty four minutes later (2-0, 54th) .

"I am very disappointed because we have to take more points against teams like today's," lamented Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the match.

Out of 25 points taken by United, the only team not to have lost to Liverpool this season, 10 were against the top 4 teams and 5 against the last 5.

And his 4 other losses before this one had been caused by Crystal Palace, West Ham, Newcastle, Bournemouth.

"There was no determination, no sense of urgency that would allow us to deserve the victory. We have no excuses," he continued.

"The big positive point is Paul (Pogba) who came into play, and it's even the only positive point," also said the Norwegian.

Returning in the 64th minute, he did not know how or could reverse the trend, but despite his lack of rhythm and automatism, he was not far from being the most active Mancunian in the disorderly final forcing of the Red Devils. Not really a reassuring observation ...
