Witnesses say to the Chicago Tribune newspaper that the party was held to honor the memory of a man shot dead earlier this year.
Earlier on Sunday morning, local media reported that 15 people had been shot in other contexts in Chicago over the weekend, four of them dead. Over 2,500 people have been shot in the big city so far this year. It is the third largest city in the United States with around 2.7 million inhabitants.
