The meeting of the Ministers of Economy and Trade of Japan, China and Korea will be held in China on the 22nd. At the meeting, we will discuss the cooperation for concluding the RCEP (East Asia Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) and the negotiation of a free trade agreement between the three countries.

The Japan-China-ROK Ministerial Meeting will be held in Beijing, China on March 22 for the first time in about three years, and Japan will be attended by Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Kajiyama.

At the meeting, we will exchange views on cooperation to conclude and sign the RCEP, which will be attended by the 16 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, next year, and to accelerate negotiations on a free trade agreement between Japan, China and South Korea.

Regarding RCEP, the focus is on being able to agree on a position to encourage India, which has also suggested leaving, to stay in negotiations.

In addition, we would like to confirm that the FTA between Japan, China and Korea aims to achieve a level higher than RCEP in eliminating or reducing tariffs.

It will also be noted whether Minister Kajiyama and South Korea's Minister of Industry, Trade and Resources, Song Yun-mo, have recently had the opportunity to exchange words over trade management, which was the subject of a policy dialogue between directors of Japan and South Korea. The meeting will begin in the evening of Japan Time and will issue a joint statement after the end.
