The men's downhill race at the Val Gardena Alpine Ski World Cup (Italy) was canceled on Saturday due to poor weather conditions, the organizers announced.

"The snowfall on the upper part of the track and the rain in the valley made the track impossible to ski and the safety of the participants was no longer ensured," said the event's website. Val Gardena World Cup. "Under these conditions, a regular race was impossible," continue the authors of the press release.

It is the sixth time that the downhill run from Val Gardena has been canceled, the first since 2011.

Already on Friday, the fog had largely disrupted the super-G, which had taken place in several hours and was regularly interrupted, and which had not allowed all skiers to take the start. The Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr won before the Norwegian Kjetil Jansrud.

The international ski federation must now notify when and where the descent canceled on Saturday will be contested.

As for skiers, they are now meeting Sunday for a giant in Alta Badia (Italy).
