On the road to Mexico, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian gave an exclusive interview to France 24 during a visit to the French lycée in Mexico City.

"The time has come to strengthen ties between Europe and Latin America," he said. "Latin America is a continent dear to France. There is a historical presence there on a cultural level and at the level of values, notably thanks to the French Revolution," he praised.

Asked about the protest movements that have sprung up all over Latin America, Jean-Yves Le Drian deplored the violence and called on it "not to mix everything".

"My feeling is that it is necessary to find in each country a political solution which is the result of dialogue and which avoids confrontation and violence," he called.

The French Minister of Foreign Affairs also returned to the extension of the France 24 antenna in Spanish. "France 24 is a very important tool. It is a vision of information in the world. A neutral and objective vision. It is for this reason that we want to strengthen France 24 in the world", he explains. .
