“I believe it is possible that, where communities are ready for this, apostolic and paremi readings, which are often the most difficult to understand, should be heard in Russian. The same applies to reading the Gospel when committing, and when statutory reading of the entire text of the Four Gospels at Holy Week, ”RIA Novosti quotes the patriarch.

He noted the need for careful monitoring of how positively parishioners evaluate the introduction of such a practice, since, due to many years of habit, reading texts in Russian can cause them rejection.

According to the patriarch, the priest’s main goal is to help parishioners “increase their love of worship,” however, the idea of a complete translation of worship in modern Russian, reduction of its parts and other such proposals will not be useful.

Earlier, Patriarch Kirill signed a letter of unity of Western parishes with the Russian Orthodox Church.

Archbishop of Dubna John (Renneto) said that the reunification of the Archbishopric of the Western European parishes of the Russian tradition with the Russian Orthodox Church will give impetus to spiritual life in Europe.
