Everyone to Santa on December 20 at 19:30

Christmas is coming soon. However, there seem to be many people who became Santa a little earlier. I was able to give a strange gift to strangers. The keyword was “eliminate mismatch”. (Reporter from the network report department Yohei Kato Asako Wada)

"Santa Claus masterpiece war"!

In Chiba City, there are five facilities such as child-care facilities and infant hospitals where children who need support for reasons such as the abandonment of childcare by parents, and a total of about 200 children live.

Chiba City has planned a “Santa Claus Daisaku” to support these children.

Until now, the city has regularly donated household items such as refrigerators and televisions using funds, but the budget is limited and children's play equipment has not been available.

That's why we used Amazon's “Wish List” system on the Internet shopping site.

Present what you want

"Wish list" that can be set from the Amazon site.

It is a function that allows you to record the products that you are considering purchasing for each user, but by setting it so that anyone can see it, third parties can purchase and give gifts on the list .

Eliminate mismatches

Chiba City chose this system because it thought that the facility can convey what it really wants, so it can be given a gift that does not have a mismatch for the gifting party.

The city decides what each facility wants and creates a list.
A total of about 110 products were posted at five facilities.

▽ “It ’s fragile and it ’s not enough,” says the tricycle.
▽ “I want to increase communication opportunities” and board games,
▽ "I want to deepen my interest" and a picture book of dinosaurs.

Some of them are disposable milk bottles and liquid milk as a preparation for disasters.

“Complete purchase” in no time

The person in charge of the city said that it was expected that it would be around Christmas when it was all passed, but when it was posted on the morning of December 13, it was only two days later on the afternoon of 15th. Has all been purchased and delivered.

The person in charge says, “I was surprised to buy it too soon. Many people respond to the call to be Santa.”

Santa is very happy

In fact, I was able to talk to a woman in Chiba City who purchased goods for the facility.

He presents a ball toy and a baby bottle that make a sound, and says that the “mechanism to deliver the necessary things to the necessary people” was the deciding factor.

The woman she gave: “Some children may have been in a hard environment, but I want them to have fun with their toys. My child has left her hands, so it was actually a Christmas present after a long time.”

Further “inspiring”

One of the facilities, “Angel Home” in Hanamigawa-ku, Chiba City, received more than 50 gifts, including picture books made of durable materials and toys that can be laid down.

The staff of the facility says, “I honestly didn't think they would gather, but I was surprised and very grateful for the gifts.”

What delighted the people at the facility was a short message from Santa.

Attached message "Please have a nice Christmas"
"I hope for the healthy growth of children"

The staff member who read it said, “Some messages have taken care of us, so I thought I could work hard again.”

“Necessary things” in the disaster area “As much as you need”

Efforts to prevent mismatches by combining the feelings of the sending side and the needs of the receiving side have begun at disaster sites.

Focusing on the support supplies, 58 organizations such as convenience stores and beverage manufacturers and NPO gathered as an organization, “SEMA”.

“SEMA” is usually a list of member companies and supporting supplies that NPOs can provide.

When a major disaster occurs, the NPO enters the disaster area and asks what the local government needs.

Based on the results, it is a system that collects the relevant supplies from the companies listed and delivers the necessary items to the disaster area without excess or deficiency.

In July last year's heavy rain in western Japan where we started the activities, a total of 22 companies provided water and clothing and delivered them to more than 20 evacuation centers in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture.

Changing needs The key is “listening every day”

He also responded to the needs of disaster victims that change over time.

In the western Japan heavy rain, the initial demand for supplies such as water, food and underwear gradually changed to medicines and sports drinks to reduce the mass of mosquitoes.

The NPO staff responsible for the relief activities in the field called on the company to ask the victims to provide the necessary supplies every day, and each time they were thankful to the many victims for delivering them to the site.

Yahoo's Kenji Yasuda, who serves as the secretariat, said, “It was a big opportunity to start working on the Kumamoto earthquake, which was witnessed by the local government being driven by a large amount of relief supplies sent from all over the country. I think that companies and NPOs will be able to grasp the needs of disaster victims, procure them, and transport them, which will reduce the burden on the local government side, leading to an early recovery. ”

"Which is better"

When you receive what you really need or need, and when you can deliver it, the person who receives it and the person who delivers it will have great joy.
There are a variety of mechanisms that can be implemented in various ways.
