A man in Santa Claus clothes tries to spread the joy of Christmas from the back of a camel walking along the walls of old Jerusalem and distributing Christmas trees to the city's residents.

The man, who is disguised in the distinctive costume and white beard, is called Issa Kassisieh, a Palestinian Christian who has worked in recent years to spread the spirit of Christmas and distribute his trees to the citizens of Jerusalem under the auspices of the city's municipality.

Kassisieh says his mission is to "bring joy, love and peace to the Holy Land."

There is an urgent need for such work this year, and always.

Eight kilometers down the road in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, on the other side of the Israeli wall, is the Palestinian city of Bethlehem, the birthplace of Christ.

The city witnesses this year the largest season of the busiest Christmas in nearly 20 years, where foreigners flock in large numbers taking advantage of the relative calm in the Palestinian-Israeli tension.

However, at this Christmas, Israel prevented the Christians who live in the Gaza Strip, numbering about one thousand, from visiting Bethlehem or Jerusalem, due to security reasons.
