Today, the new Algerian President, Abdel Majid Taboun, appointed Sabri Boukadoum as head of the caretaker government, Algerian television reported.

Taboun also appointed a new Minister of the Interior, Kamal Beljoud, with the rest of the ministers running the government.

Bogadom took over the Foreign Ministry last March in the government of Noureddine Badawi, who submitted her resignation to Taboon at the Presidential Palace earlier Thursday.

After the new Algerian president was sworn in, the protest movement, known as the Harak, discussed its response to its offer of dialogue to end a political crisis that has been going on for months.
