"I have decrees on awarding the Hero of Russia ... I just do not sign it," Putin said.

According to him, Akhmat Kadyrov himself came to him to build relations between the republic and Moscow and later died at the hands of terrorists.

He noted that the current head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, is still in danger every day and participates in military operations, although Putin forbade him.

At a meeting of the Human Rights Council on December 10, Russian director Alexander Sokurov told Putin that he did not understand how the title of Hero of Russia was assigned not only to the Pskov paratroopers who had fought in Chechnya, but also to members of the Kadyrov’s family.

Ramzan Kadyrov reacted to Sokurov’s words.

84 paratroopers of the 6th company of the Pskov division died in battle with militants in March 2000 near Argun in Chechnya. 22 paratroopers were awarded the title of Hero of Russia. Ramzan Kadyrov received the title of Hero of Russia in 2004, the same year Akhmat Kadyrov received the title posthumously.
