The 100 million investment includes four construction projects:

  • Renovation of Torup's school
  • Redevelopment of the Unnegården retirement home in Unnaryd, with a new library and more apartments.
  • New school or renovation of school in Landeryd.
  • The new residential area Parkstaden is being exploited.

"Many of our buildings date from when the municipality was formed in 1974. They are over 40 years old and we need to do this," says Ronny Löfqvist (S), chairman of the municipal council.

The majority coalition Future Hylte - S, V, L and the municipality's well - voted through the initiative in the municipal council on Tuesday.

SD says no

Opposition parties C and M wanted to settle for three projects. C wanted to remove Unnegården and M wanted to remove Parkstaden.

The Swedish Democrats stand as the only party completely opposed to the initiatives.

- We think the projects are good, but do not think we should borrow as much money when we are on the road to worse times, says Stina Isaksson (SD).

- It is precisely when we are heading for a recession that we should invest. We think we can get lower bids from the construction industry then, ”says Ronny Löfquist (S).
