Confirmation priest dismisses: "It is the strongest penalty"

The pastor is declared unauthorized to practice the church's ordination service in order to break his vowing vows.

- To deprive a priest of the right to practice the ordination service is the strongest sanction the chapter can decide on, says Bishop Åsa Nyström.

The decision of the chapter was unanimous and the members stated that the priest repeatedly expressed in connection with his confirmation teaching a strong question of homosexuality.

"By merely expressing their own opinions and not stating the attitude of the Swedish church on these issues, the priest has broken in his loyalty to the Swedish church.
