The Central African authorities confirm the return of François Bozizé to the capital after six years of exile.

In a press release, the Minister of Communication said he learned of the presence of François Bozizé in Bangui. The government, assures Ange-Maxime Kazagui, will do everything " so that the momentum of peace is consolidated ".

Time was running out for the deposed president, who had never hidden his intention to seek to return to Bangui and to power. The electoral code required him - he and all the presidential candidates of December 2020 - to be on the national territory at least one year before the election. For François Bozizé, it is now done.

The former head of state, who has lived in Uganda to date, has yet to be seen in public. But his supporters are circulating photos and videos of his participation in a meeting of his party's political bureau at the KNK headquarters in Bangui. His spokesmen refuse to say how he got to the Central African Republic.

A directive from the Minister of Transport prohibited airlines from letting him board their flights to Bangui. It is not excluded that it arrived by river or land.

The presence of François Bozizé at a meeting of his party on Saturday in the Boeing district, near Bangui airport, has been envisaged. But its representatives assure that he will not speak in public before having met " his brother " President Touadéra.
