As noted, no later than 2013, a native of Dagestan, who was serving a sentence for illegal arms trafficking in IK-2 of the Federal Penitentiary Service in Kalmykia, created a terrorist community in the colony.

“Supporting its goals and objectives, from 2013 to the present, more than 100 convicted persons have entered its composition on the territory of the penal colony,” the report said.

The leadership of the colony for monetary compensation, as indicated, "provided general protection" to members of the terrorist community.

In Kalmykia, including IK-2, as well as Dagestan, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, the Krasnodar Territory and the Volgograd Region, searches were conducted at the place of residence of the suspects and their close relatives.

Searches were also conducted in the office of the First Deputy Head of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Kalmykia.

The detention of five persons is reported.

“The remaining suspects are currently serving sentences in places of deprivation of liberty, including PKK IK-2,” the department added.

The UK also said that three more members of the terrorist community after being released in the period from 2014 to 2015 in Dagestan, when armed resistance was rendered, were eliminated by law enforcement officials.
