It is noted that the initiative allows the import into Russia of a batch of unregistered drugs containing narcotic or psychotropic substances in order to provide medical care according to vital indications to patients, expands the concept of “original drug”, which now refers to a drug with a new active substance registered both in Russia and abroad.

“The norm is necessary so that Russian citizens, in case foreign companies leave the market due to sanctions, are not left without the necessary medicines,” the statement said.

According to Leonid Ogul, deputy chairman of the State Duma’s Health Committee, there are a large number of original and generic medicines — generics, recorded on the pharmaceutical market in the country.

“Despite the similarities of the drugs of the same group, they differ from the therapeutic point of view, and doctors and pharmacists should have clear instructions for prescribing, a single system should work, which would be regularly updated as new drugs are released,” TASS quotes him .

Ogul noted that the amendments would establish uniform rules for medical appointments, put things in order on the market, and an updated and accessible register of interchangeable medicines will be created on the Internet, and the government will make a list of them.

“Federal state supervision will receive the authority to conduct inspections in the regions for compliance with the requirements for setting selling prices for vital and essential medicines (Vital and Essential Medicines),” he concluded.

Earlier it was reported that 380 packages of unregistered Midazolam in a special form for children were brought into Russia.

In early September, the country's government allocated to the Ministry of Industry and Trade over 26 million rubles for the purchase of foreign medicines not registered in the country for children with chronic diseases.
