After two turns at the Technology and Leisure Committee in Halmstad Municipality, during the Tuesday meeting, the local council decided to club through the committee's proposal. Now the ball lies with the city council and the official message of how it will be in February.

The last time an adjustment was made was in 2010 and the purpose is for there to be more circulation in the parking lots.

"Of course it's boring to raise rates"

In Zone 1 (red) it increases from SEK 12 per hour to 16, zone 2 (blue) increases from SEK 6 to 8 and in zone 3 (yellow) it increases from SEK 3 to SEK 4.

The price for those with residential parking is increased from the current SEK 150 a month to SEK 250. The price of incorrect parking is also raised.

- Of course it is sad to have to raise tariffs. This is about increasing accessibility in the city, ”says Jonas Bergman (M), chairman of the municipal council.

No rotation needed

That the increased price would have the opposite effect - that instead of parking in the City, the Halmstad residents withdraw from going there, is something that Jonas Bergman (M) is worried about.

- I think the residents of Halmstad will see that there are more parking spaces available. They may therefore, to a lesser extent, refrain from driving into town, he says.

How much rotation is needed for the residential parking?

- No rotation is needed there. That's where we have an incredibly cheap housing parking, ”says Jonas Bergman (M).
