December 18, 2019 "The crib is more relevant than ever, while every day many weapons and many violent images are made in the world, which enter the eyes and the heart. The crib is instead an artisan image of peace". Pope Francis said this during the general audience, which today dedicated to the theme "The Nativity, Domestic Gospel". "And this is why he is a living Gospel," said the pontiff.

"In today's frenetic rhythms" the crib "is an invitation to contemplation", added the pope. "It reminds us of the importance of stopping. Because only when we know how to gather together can we welcome what counts in life. Only if we leave the noise of the world outside does we open ourselves to listening to God, who speaks in silence".
