“The parties confirmed the desire to implement all necessary measures to support the ceasefire, in accordance with the statement of the parties on the introduction of an unlimited ceasefire of July 17, 2019,” RIA Novosti quoted Gryzlov as saying.

He added that the meeting also discussed the tasks related to the legal status of Donetsk and Lugansk.

“The Minsk agreements clearly say that the special status of Donbass should be fixed in the constitution of Ukraine and that all issues of legislative and constitutional status should be agreed with representatives of Donetsk and Lugansk,” said Gryzlov.

Earlier, the Foreign Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic stated that the contact group on the Donbass could not agree on the exchange of held persons.

The next meeting of the contact group for the Donbass is scheduled for January 16, 2020.
