The PSOE and ERC have been locked up this morning about rumors of an imminent agreement that would allow the investiture of Pedro Sánchez next week, before the end of the year. The Secretary of Organization of the PSOE, José Luis Ábalos , said this morning that the independentists have renounced the unilateral way to achieve secession and that it would be "desirable" for the investiture to be held already. A statement answered shortly thereafter by ERC spokeswoman Marta Vilalta , who has denounced that it is only a "blackmail" and "public pressure", and that his party absolutely does not renounce self-determination.

The tone of the ERC leader has been much harder than what was heard since her party since the investiture meetings began. "ERC will not give up any way to get the Catalan republic," he said, and in no way the agreement to keep Sanchez in La Moncloa is closed. On the contrary, Vilalta has said that "the table has not advanced for a few days", in reference to the negotiating teams of both parties, of which both Ábalos and she are part.

Indeed, the PSOE and ERC have already held three meetings for the investiture, but since the last one, held in Barcelona last week, there has been no news and no date has even been set for the next. The rumor pointed out that the agreement was finalized and that ERC was pending two important appointments: the decision of the EU Court of Justice on the immunity of Oriol Junqueras , which will be known on Thursday, and the celebration of the ERC National Congress on Saturday . After that, the Republicans would give the green light to the investiture.

All this has been fed this morning by Ábalos, who has referred to those "important milestones" of this week for ERC and has said that "hurrying dates those days leave", referring to the possible investiture next week. Some statements that seem to have greatly irritated the independence.

"Those who are in a hurry do nothing but dynamit the agreement," Vilalta insisted, warning for the first time that there was no endowment by the route chosen by Pedro Sánchez to be elected: United We, nationalists, separatists and regionalists. Specifically, the ERC spokeswoman said that next Monday the National Council of her party will not meet to approve any agreement, an essential previous step so that it can be announced and Congress can convene the investiture plenary session.

"Ábalos is not the spokesperson for ERC. Do not speak for us. Do not begin to make speculation or pressure, or disseminate information that is not true," Vilalta has finished. The PSOE therefore has to continue negotiating with the independentists, on whom, as Ábalos has recognized today, the endowment and its date depend.
