The Paris Bourse fell back Tuesday morning, after having shown an overwhelming enthusiasm during the two previous sessions, thwarted by words of the British head of government Boris Johnson.

At 09:34, the CAC 40 index yielded 22.9 points to 5,968.76 points. Monday, the Parisian market had ended at an unprecedented level since July 23, 2007 at 5,991.66 points (+ 1.23%), investors having welcomed the preliminary trade agreement announced Friday between China and the United States.

"However, all the details have not yet been communicated and the signing should not take place before the beginning of January. The soap opera is therefore not completely finished," observed in a note Christopher Dembik, head of economic research at Saxo Bank.

In addition, "the return of a + no-deal + could begin to haunt investors after Boris Johnson's comments on the transition period," notes Tangi Le Liboux, analyst for broker Aurel BGC.

The head of the British government wants to enshrine in law the impossibility of extending the transition period provided for in the divorce agreement with the European Union.

"Which means that the European Union and the United Kingdom will have to come to an agreement before the end of next year", which "would be a miracle in view of the magnitude of the task. London and Brussels will have to negotiate sector by sector ", explains Mr. Le Liboux.

The exit agreement negotiated with Brussels provides for a transition period until the end of 2020, extendable up to two years, in order to avoid a brutal, chaotic break for the economy, if the two parties fail to conclude within this time an agreement on their future business relationship.

In order for this transitional period, during which the British will continue to apply European rules, to be extended, London must request it before 1 July 2020.

The automotive sector was struggling after the publication of statistics from European manufacturers. Peugeot lost 1.51% to 21.59 euros and Renault 0.74% to 42.73 euros. The equipment manufacturers followed the same trajectory: Faurecia fell by 2.02% to 49.60 euros and Valeo 2.19% to 32.67 euros.

In November, Renault saw its registrations of new passenger cars increase by 4.3% in the European Union, but those of PSA contracted by 7.2%,

Airbus advanced 0.60% to 130 euros after the announcement of the American manufacturer Boeing to suspend, from January, the production of its flagship aircraft, the 737 MAX, for lack of obtaining the approval of the air authorities for the make it fly. On the other hand, Safran, co-manufacturer of the engine of the device, fell by 3.21% to 137 euros.
