Refaat al-Assad, uncle of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who is being tried in Paris in the case of "illicit enrichment" in France, has been transferred to the hospital, and since Monday he has been in "intensive care", according to what his son, Swar Al-Assad, announced.

"The intensive care since Monday evening," said Swar Al-Sad, who was contacted by Agence France-Presse.

He explained that his father suffers from intestinal bleeding "and is not in good condition." He added, "He must stay two or three days in intensive care."

At the beginning of his trial on December 9, he apologized, through his lawyer, for appearing on health grounds and providing documents to prove this. One of his advisers told the court that "his doctors advised him to avoid any situation causing stress."

On Monday evening, the National Financial Prosecution requested a prison sentence that lifted Assad for four years, imposed a fine of ten million euros on him, and confiscated all his property, which is covered by the investigation, which are two large houses and about forty apartments in Paris and a palace.
