SVT News Skåne has previously reported on the much-debated proposal. A total of 73 households, both families and single households, are affected by the decision now made, according to the municipality.

The Social Committee decided in accordance with the guidelines proposed. M, S, C and SD voted in favor of the decision, S and the local party Fokus Bjärred reserved the decision.

"The decision is based on the fact that we must have a throughput in our housing estates," says Susanne Borgelius (M), chairman of the Social Committee.

The notice period varies

When the newcomers are forced to relocate depends on when they got their contract and what situation they are in.

For the new arrivals who arrived between 2016 and 2018:

  • Single households get their contracts terminated with a three-month notice period
  • Families receive six months notice if they have their own livelihood - unless they can have another six months
For families, school terms are taken into account, that is, contracts are not broken in the middle of a semester

The newcomers who have been granted housing in 2019 may retain their leases for 13 months, after which the following applies:

  • Single households that are self-sufficient must not be extended. Non-self-sufficiency may be extended for 12 months
  • If needed, families can receive a 12-month extension if they become self-sufficient the first year
  • Families that do not become self-sufficient can also be extended for 12 months, after which they can be extended for another 6 months on a maximum of two occasions.
School terms are also taken into account here
Starting to apply next year

On January 10, 2020, the decision will come into force. Then the administration starts to work according to the new guidelines.

- It can be repeated that these are guidelines. They include most, but not all, and individual assessments may have to be made, says Susanne Borgelius.
