Iraqi demonstrators distributed a statement yesterday evening, in which they demanded the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, to name a prime minister, in line with the demands of the protest yards, the day before the parliament held a session for this purpose next Thursday, and specified the specifications of the candidate for this position.

The statement pointed out that the Prime Minister of Iraq must be an independent civilian, not military, and pledges not to run for the next government, and to work to achieve the demands of the protesters for a maximum period of six months.

The statement stressed that the demonstrators categorically reject any prime minister called with the intention of completing the current era of corruption, and Parliament should not give legitimacy to assign a prime minister who did not enjoy popular approval, and not to pass the formation of his government on condition that its president be in the specifications presented by the sit-in squares.

The statement also called for the parliament’s commitment to pass a fair election law, as called for in the sit-in squares in advance, provided that individual voting depends 100% and multiple and small electoral districts according to population density, and the winner who gets more than 50% of the votes is approved, not the most numerous.

The statement warned the parties not to include any paragraph in their interests, not in the interest of the people, and to set a date for early elections within a maximum period of one month and to dissolve Parliament.

The social networking sites published a statement earlier, in which the protestors of Tahrir Square in the capital, Baghdad, specified the specifications of the new prime minister.

According to the statement, the Prime Minister of Iraq must be independent and not affiliated with any party or stream and who are not dual nationals, not a minister or the rank of minister or parliamentarian or conservative, and be honest and courageous and not accused in any corruption case.

The statement continued that the age of the new prime minister must not exceed 55 years, and he pledges not to run for the upcoming elections, and he is obligated to implement the demands of the protesters in the sit-in squares, and that his decision is an Iraqi, independent, and not subject to pressure from political blocs or external interference.

And Iraqi President Barham Saleh announced that next Thursday is the last date for announcing the name of the candidate to form the new government.

And the Iraqi president must announce the name of the candidate according to the constitutional authority vested in him to form the new government against the background of Adel Abdul Mahdi’s resignation in response to the demands of the demonstrators.
