The Stade de Reims is the first club to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Football League Cup after its success Tuesday night at home against Montpellier (1-0).
Midfielder Mathieu Cafaro scored the only goal of the game on penalty, whistled 12 minutes from the end for a hand in the area of the Portuguese defender Pedro Mendes.
The Hérault club played ten after the expulsion of the Serbian defender Mihailo Ristic (69th), guilty of having pushed Anastasios Donis while the Greek striker left alone on goal.
The second match of the evening opposed Monaco, ninth in the Championship, to Lille, third.
