Elodie and Amélie and their children were sitting in the kitchen and had just eaten dinner when they heard a bang in the children's bedroom, which is at the other end of the apartment.

- After a while we realized that it was a shot from a gun that went through the window in our children's bedroom. It only happened a little while before they would go to bed, says Elodie.

The apartment is not the target

At present, the police are working on the theory that the apartment was not the target of the shooting. Instead, the target board must have been a person who later sought out care in a hospital outside Uppsala.

"This is the thesis that we are tentatively assuming right now," says Jonas Eronen, press officer at Uppsala Police.

"Could have lost a child"

The family has lived in Uppsala for over seven years. Given the many recent shootings in the city, Elodie and Amélie think it is important to tell about the incident.

- We are a very ordinary family. This could have hit anyone. At the same time, we are also thinking about what the police and the municipality are really doing to solve the problems. We could have lost a child, they say.
