The summit bringing together the leaders of the G5 Sahel countries and France will be held in Pau on January 13, 2020, announced on December 16 the Elysee Palace.

Originally scheduled for December 16, this summit, which should clarify the framework for French intervention in the Sahelo-Saharan strip, was postponed after the attack on the military base in Inates, in Niger, which left 71 dead. December 11.

This announcement comes the day after the extraordinary summit held in Niamey with the five Sahelian states of the G5 Sahel (Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Mauritania and Chad). Together, the heads of state decided to strengthen their cooperation and called on the international community to support them to stem the jihadist danger.
