“Without receiving nutrition from the outside, the body enters into a state of stress and begins to solve the problem of how to survive in new conditions for him. This forces him to activate the defensive forces, which are designed to destroy any threats. Therefore, experts say that short-term fasting restarts the immune system. She begins to actively fight infections, fungi and viruses. Therefore, people who regularly practice short-lived abstinence from food rarely get sick, ”adds the specialist.

The expert also spoke about the most popular schemes for short-term fasting. The most sparing scheme, according to him, is “12/12”. The last meal in this case occurs at 19:00, breakfast - at 07:00.

There is also a 14/10 scheme, in which case you can have dinner no later than 18:00, and breakfast no earlier than 08:00. To build muscle mass, the doctor recommends the 16/8 scheme, that is, dinner at 16:00, and breakfast at 08:00.

However, he notes that when implementing these schemes, it is advisable not to give up water consumption.

According to the expert, you can also refrain from eating on weekends, limiting your diet to 500 calories per day for women and 600 calories to men.

At the same time, the Federal Scientific Center for Food Systems noted that people with health problems should consult a doctor before practicing starvation.
