It was Sunday morning in one of the heats of the US high school, ISOC, that the accident occurred. Adam Renheim chased behind his opponents while it was snowing.

- I tried to drive up and pass. Then I got wrong in a jump and landed in a bump, he tells SVT.

Successful operation

He knew quite quickly that something had broken. It would later prove to be a femur fracture and only seven hours after the blow, Renheim was operated on.

- The operation went well, so now just wait for the swelling to go down. The idea was that I would fly home today (read: Monday) but now I probably have to aim to be home before Christmas at least.

The season over

He confirms for SVT that the season is now over. Rehabilitation is expected for two months and after that the season is almost over.

- This season looks pretty fucked up now. It would be if I could run the World Cup at home in April, but we'll see. It is the most skiing here in North America that applies.

"Great disappointment for both me and the team"

This is his first leg break in his 15-year career. It doesn't hurt him very much that he misses the chance to take the seventh World Cup title, but that he loses on winning the Championship, which he never did, feels heavy.

- We really did everything this year to make it go the way. It's a big disappointment for both me and the team, he says.

The Lima rider has taken home a total of six World Cup gold earlier in his career. No one else in the snowmobile has even won so much in the vicinity.
