Behind the new train is Mälardalstrafik, a collaboration between Region Stockholm, Region Sörmland, Region Uppsala, Region Västmanland, Region Örebro County and Region Östergötland.

On Monday morning, the inauguration would have taken place, but the train that would have departed at 06.13 from Örebro was stopped, something that P4 Örebro was the first to report.

- The tour was canceled due to a vehicle fault, we are looking at what it was. These are new vehicles in the traffic and such things can happen before you drive in, says Sofie Östlund, train strategist at Region Örebro county.

More space for luggage

Later on Monday the trains should have rolled without problems. Mälar trains are double-decked and adapted for commuters. On board, there are, among other things, toilets and larger spaces for luggage. There is also room for six bikes on board the trains.

The train will run the route Örebro-Arboga-Kungsör-Eskilstuna-Strängnäs-Leggesta-Nykvarn-Södertälje-Flemingsberg-Stockholm. The route is the first to be operated by the new trains and in 2021 a total of 33 trains will roll on four of seven lines.
