A criminal court in Dubai sentenced three Asian Optics technicians to three months in prison, after being convicted of harassing a woman, who took refuge in the store where he works for a visual examination in order to obtain a driver’s license, based on a recommendation from the Automotive Education Institute.
Investigations reported that the woman turned to the store accountant in a silent manner, and delivered him a paper containing its content that the optics technician harassed her, but the accountant ignored her and threw the paper in the garbage, but an Asian employee working at the driving institute supported her and helped her face the harasser.
The victim said in the Dubai Public Prosecution investigations, that she went to the branch of the Driving Institute in a commercial center to obtain a driver’s license, so the specialist examined the papers with her, asked her to provide a visual examination certificate, and instructed her to an optometry store, so she went there, where he asked Including the accused to enter the examination room to complete the operation. While sitting on the examination apparatus, the optometrist asked her about personal matters, including her residence, and whether she had a friend or husband, then invited her to dinner, then offered her to marry, and she answered him by refusing.
She added that she remained about half an hour in the examination room, and then asked her for her phone number, so she thought that it was an action with the aim of including it in the required papers, but she was surprised by it ringing on her phone, and during her exit from the room, the accused preceded her to the door, prevented her from going out, then grabbed her and tried to kiss her However, she repelled him, so he kissed her cheek.
She indicated that she went out and wrote a paper and delivered it to the accountant, stating that she was harassed by the optics technician, but that he folded it and threw it in the garbage, so she returned to the branch of the Driving Institute, and informed the employee of what happened with her, so he went with her to the shop, and faced the accused who approved and apologized, so he asked From him he signed a written apology, then filed a complaint against him by the Dubai Police, who referred him to the Public Prosecution, and from there to the Criminal Court.
