Aurore Bergé, spokesperson for LREM, accused La rebellious France on Monday of having, like the British Labor Party (Labor), a "problem with anti-Semitism" illustrated by the attacks of Jean-Luc Mélenchon against the Representative Council of Jewish institutions of France (Crif).

"There has been a problem with anti-Semitism for a long time in Labor (...) and I think that La France insoumise is affected by the same thing", denounced the member for Yvelines at the microphone of Sud Radio.

"It's been 48 hours that all the leaders of rebellious France have taken turns to attack Crif, that is to say attack an association which is fighting in our country against anti-Semitism, so at one point, by attacking Crif, we attack those who fight against anti-Semitism and I find it quite unbearable on the part of Mélenchon ", deplored Ms. Bergé.

Minister of Relations with Parliament Marc Fesneau, for his part, said that Mr. Mélenchon "should clarify his remarks", because "there is something vague: I do not see at all the link between an electoral defeat in Great Britain. Brittany and the Crif, "he said on Radio Classique.

"This way of feeding by innuendo sometimes something that is underlying - I am not saying that Jean-Luc Mélenchon is in this category - hints of anti-Semitism is always dangerous", he said. added.

The Crif denounced Sunday the "inadmissible remarks" of the boss of LFI, who had criticized in a blog post his "ukases" and his "communitarianism" by commenting on the historic defeat of the labor Jeremy Corbyn, accused during the campaign of lack of firmness in the face of anti-Semitism within his Labor formation.

"Points retreat, German and neoliberal Europe, green capitalism, genuflection before the arrogant ukases of the Crif communitarians: it's no," wrote the LFI leader.

The entourage of Mr. Mélenchon cleared him of all anti-Semitism with AFP by stressing that he wanted by these words to say that he would not be "influenced by lobbies whatever they are, financial or communitarian ".

Before Mr. Fesneau, several ministers, including those of the Interior Christophe Castaner and of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer, had already criticized the statements of Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
