Ligue 1: Marseille crowns Paris SG, Toulouse and Nîmes sink

Paris (AFP)

Marseille, second in Ligue 1, made Paris SG happy by declaring it the autumn champion, after its draw at Metz (1-1) during the 18th day which also saw relegation Toulouse and Nîmes sink.

. Paris thanks Marseille

OM's misfortune makes PSG happy: by drawing a draw, the Phocaeans allowed their great rival, traveling on Sunday to Saint-Etienne, to win the honorary title of autumn champion, which rewards the best team of the outward phase.

But if their series of six consecutive victories ended, the team of André Villas-Boas avoided the worst thanks to their three substitutes: Nemanja Radonjic equalized (70th) on a center of Valère Germain, and Yohann Pelé stopped a penalty (53).

The Portuguese coach also gave reassuring news about his goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, who was hit in the ankle and replaced during the match: "I think it won't be too bad."

. Toulouse and Nîmes sink

At the bottom of the ranking, Nîmes and Toulouse, in full drift, do not know, them, what to hang on to.

Without their leader Max-Alain Gradel, injured, the Violets have chained against Reims (1-0) a disturbing eighth defeat in a row that scotches them in last place.

The end of the game was marred by clashes around the lawn involving several angry supporters.

The Gardois, who have the same number of points (12), do not do better: beaten by Nantes at home (1-0), they have not won in the Championship since the end of September.

Amiens (17th) and Dijon (16th) could have taken off but by neutralizing (1-1) they left good friends, with five units ahead of the two relegables.

. Monaco and Nice in slow motion

The Rémois of Remy Oudin (5th) and the Nantes of Imran Louza (4th), both scorers, made their honey of the bad pass of Toulouse and Nîmes by achieving the best operation at the top of the table, where it is still the traffic jam.

Angers and Monaco stood still by neutralizing each other (0-0), as did Brest and Nice (0-0).

This could benefit Sunday in Bordeaux (7th) or Lyon (8th), which receive Strasbourg and Rennes respectively, with the opportunity to make a good advance in the ranking.
