The American Mikaela Shiffrin, already at the top of the general classification of the World Cup but who remains on a disappointment in Lake Louise (Canada), could clinch a historic 63rd victory as of this weekend in Saint-Moritz (Switzerland) where she had scored twice last year.

Only 10th last Sunday in the Canadian Super-G station won by the German Viktoria Rebensburg, Shiffrin happily finds the Grisons station which gives him wings.

Just a year ago, she first dominated the Super-G in front of the Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami before winning the next day in the parallel slalom by dominating the Slovak Petra Vlhova.

The snow expected this week in abundance could for a time suggest a reversal of the two races, but ultimately the program was well maintained with a start of the Super-G on Saturday at 10:30 am (French time).

Passed very close last Friday by winning a convincing second place in the second downhill in the Lake Louise program, Shiffrin will have on Saturday the opportunity to register a 63rd World Cup victory in his record and thus overtake the Austrian Annemarie Moser -Pröll.

Already a triple winner of the big globe of the World Cup at only 24 years old, the Vail skier in the United States could therefore take advantage of this Swiss stage to accentuate her comfortable advance in the general classification.

With 472 points, she is ahead of Rebensburg (235 pts) and the two Swiss Michelle Gisin and Corine Suter, tied for 3rd place (185 pts).

Michelle Gisin will remember that she took 2nd place in the Super-G two years ago, won by another Swiss, Jasmine Flury.

On the French side, Tessa Worley, absent last year for knee pain, finds St. Moritz where she became in 2017 giant slalom world champion, for the second time.

The best tricolor in the general classification of the World Cup (15th), remains on a 5th place in the giant of Killington (United States).

Worley will be accompanied in the Super-G by Romane Miradoli, ambitious after her 7th place in the descent of Lake Louise, as well as Jennifer Piot, Laura Gauché and Coralie Frasse Sombet.

The latter took Wednesday 4th place in the European Cup Super-G disputed in St Moritz and won by Tessa Worley.

Program (French hours):

Saturday: Super-G at 10:30 a.m.

Sunday: Parallel slalom at 1:30 p.m. (qualifications at 9:45 a.m.)
