“We will consider lowering this threshold in order to equalize the conditions of competition for both conventional trade and Internet commerce and take measures to ensure transparency of trade through the Internet,” Siluanova quoted Interfax as saying.

He noted that countries are moving towards establishing control and transparency of online commerce.

The minister also added that lowering the threshold for duty-free import of goods is "a big step forward for consumers."

Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev supported Siluanov’s proposal to lower the threshold for duty-free import of parcels to Russia.

According to the current rules of the Eurasian Economic Commission, at present, without a fee, you can receive one parcel per month for € 500.

From January 1, the threshold is planned to be reduced to € 200 per parcel. The Ministry of Finance proposes a further reduction - to € 100 in 2020, to € 50 in 2021 and to € 20 from 2022.
