The antiquarian Elin Eriksson tells us that with the help of his own research you have got a better picture of what life looked like in Eskilstuna in the 18th century. The exhibition presents eleven different personalities from the era. These are based on building records, court records and house lengths.

Some 80 died

Among the personalities is a young toddler mother, who was sentenced to theft, but who managed to escape. Unfortunately, she was probably one of many people from the neighborhood who died in the plague.

- In the autumn of 1710, 54 people died in the plague in Eskilstuna and some 30 in Torshälla. This was not a big city, so for the small population there were quite a few who died, says Elin Eriksson, an archivist at the Eskilstuna City Museum.
