It was in March earlier this year that the Center Party group leader Anders W Jonsson announced that Eskil Erlandsson is leaving his parliamentary seat. The message came after three women MPs told them that they had been exposed to "unwanted touch".

"An unacceptable behavior has consequences," wrote Center's party leader Annie Lööf in a post on Facebook.

It was later revealed that the party has been trying to persuade Erlandsson to leave his parliamentary seat since November 2018. A long line of talks with him was required before Erlandsson resigned, Annie Lööf said.

Prosecuted in August

On August 5, Eskil Erlandsson was indicted on three counts of sexual misconduct. The cases occurred in 2016, 2017 and 2019. Erlandsson denies a crime.
