"The confusion surrounding the development of the Sino-US trade file remains a sensitive subject that makes the likelihood of a quick agreement go away," said Franklin Pichard, Managing Director of Kiplink Finance.

"At best, we should wait until 2020 for Beijing and Washington to reach a preliminary agreement that will ease trade tensions," he added.

"On the other hand, as some observers say, if tariffs actually came into effect on Sunday, it would likely mean the end of trade negotiations between Washington and Beijing until the end of Donald Trump's presidential term," according to M Pichard.

On the indicators front, the session will be marked by the publication of the consumer price index for November (CPI) in the United States, before the Fed, which ends this Wednesday a meeting of two days, does not return its verdict after the closing of the European stock exchanges.

"Regarding the Fed, stakeholders expect a monetary status quo. After three monetary rebounds of a quarter point each since July, (...) Jerome Powell should suggest that it no longer envisages a drop in short-term rate, "said Pichard.

Moreover, on the eve of crucial elections for the fate of Brexit, the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is "fighting for every vote", the last poll of the campaign showing that his lead on Labor is reduced.
