The free trade agreement between the United States, Mexico and Canada will be signed Tuesday in Mexico City, said Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

"We have yet to wait a few hours but there is already an initial agreement between the governments (...) It will be signed today by the executives, the negotiators of the three countries", said Mr. Lopez Obrador during his conference daily press.

A first version of the AEUMC, which modernizes Bill Clinton's Alena Treaty 25 years ago and has intimately linked the three economies together, was signed by the three countries in late November 2018.

Only the Mexican Parliament has since ratified it.

The agreement to be signed Tuesday in Mexico City will include the amendments that were negotiated by the three countries.

The main US union has already validated Tuesday the amended North American trade text.
