On Tuesday, December 10, the Democratic parliamentarians unveiled the charges against the US president: abuse of power and obstruction of the smooth running of Congress. The House of Representatives will vote in plenary next week.

Congressional Democrats unveiled, at a press conference, the two articles against Donald Trump in the impeachment proceedings: the abuse of power by seeking a Ukrainian intervention and obstruction of the work of the Congress. refusing to respond to congressional assignments.

" Nobody, not even the president, is above the law, " said Jerrold Nadler, chair of the House of Representatives' Judicial Affairs Committee. " We are here today because the President's abuse of power has left us no alternative, " said Adam Schiff, head of the Intelligence Committee, which has conducted more than two months of investigation into the Ukrainian case.

Once these charges are passed in plenary next week, Donald Trump will become the third president in history to be indicted in Congress. This is no longer a doubt since the House of Representatives is a Democratic majority.

The Senate, with a majority Republican, will then be responsible for organizing a trial, likely to open in January 2020. Controlled by the Republicans, it should in all likelihood not vote this dismissal.

" Ridiculous accusations " for Trump

As soon as the charges were announced, the US president reacted on Twitter, citing " ridiculous accusations ".

Nadler just said that I "pressured Ukraine to interfere in our 2020 Election." Ridiculous, and he knows that is not true. Both the President & Foreign Minister of Ukraine said, many times, that there "WAS NO PRESSURE." Nadler and the Dems know this, but refuse to acknowledge!
