According to the National Agency for Education, 188,500 teachers and preschool teachers need to be examined until 2033. But today there are 45,000, calculated at today's levels of students who take the degree. The greatest shortage is expected to be the subject teacher at the secondary school, middle school teacher and professional teacher.

- The forecast shows a continuing large shortage of teachers. We have a positive earnings trend in Swedish schools. We will strengthen it further, but then students are required to have access to competent teachers, says the Swedish National Agency for Education's Director General Peter Fredriksson in a press release.

However, the estimated teacher shortage is reduced by 35,000 teachers, from the forecast made by the National Agency for Education two years ago. The calculation is largely due to the population increase expected to slow down, mainly because fewer are expected to migrate to Sweden, according to the authority.
