“Yuri Mikhailovich Luzhkov was a person of truly extraordinary proportions. A bright and courageous politician, an energetic and talented organizer, an open and welcoming person. The real "mayor" of the capital, who was respected and trusted by Muscovites, "says Putin’s telegram.

He stressed that at the turn of the historical eras, Luzhkov did much for the development of Moscow.

“And of course, we will always remember his sincere, cordial support of the Sevastopol and Black Sea sailors. Not once, contrary to all circumstances and diplomatic protocols, he directly said that Sevastopol is a Russian city, ”the president added.

On December 10, the former mayor of Moscow, Yuri Luzhkov, died at the 84th year of his life in Germany.

He will be buried in the Novodevichy cemetery.
