During a detention hearing in Kalmar district court on Tuesday, the district court decided that the prosecution time be extended and the man should continue to sit in custody on suspicion of autonomy with children. The 55-year-old was present on a video link from the detention center.

Be against new family home placement

The 55-year-old is the 6-year-old boy's biological father. He says in the Frivården's investigation that at the time he had just been told that his son, who was a family home located on Öland, would be moved to a family home several miles further afield.

The purpose of visiting the son was first to say goodbye, he says, but he ended up taking the boy with him. He states that he was aware that he was acting wrong, but that he did not want the boy to be placed so far from his parents.

Hundreds of volunteers searched

The boy's disappearance prompted a massive search request from both police and volunteers on Öland, but could be blown away when the boy was found well-kept together with his father on a train in southern Sweden.

According to Prosecutor Jeanette Boye, the man is still suspected on the same grounds as at the previous arrest, and does not want to make any other comments in the case, citing the investigation. Even the suspicions against a woman in the vicinity of the six-year-old remain, she says.

SVT is looking for the man's lawyer for a comment.
