Former Daewoo Group Chairman Kim Woo-jung has always told his acquaintances that "Vietnam feels like a second home."

Although the Communist Party's per capita system adopted the Doier-I policy to embrace the market economy in 1986 and promote economic development, Kim was approaching Vietnam first when he was not doing much. He was the head of a large overseas company.

Thanks to this, former chairman Kim built a solid foundation in the local area and built a strong network with the highest level.

Kim had fled abroad in October 1999 due to the Daewoo Group incident, and stayed in Vietnam for a long time until he returned home in June 2005. At that time, the Vietnamese government was actually protecting Kim, who was wanted by Interpol. It is an open secret.

Kim, who was specially pardoned in January 2008, went abroad before returning to health worsening in the second half of last year.

In 2009, he selected Vietnam as his first target when former Daewoo employees decided to form 'GYBM' (Global Young Business Manager) program to form the Daewoo Global Management Research Association and continue the treatment spirit.

Kim said, "Vietnam will grow the fastest in the future," and the acquaintances said, "Be the first to start GYBM here."

GYBM is a program to educate Korean youth in their local areas and to find employment in their countries in cooperation with overseas universities.

It is called 'Kim Woo Jung Academy' with the aim of developing talents who are able to start a business by gaining experience and skills in local companies with intermediate language skills.

Starting in Vietnam in 2011, 40 people have been produced in Vietnam, Myanmar and Indonesia.

This year, 150 people were selected and the program has been in operation since July.

Mr. Kim said, "I think it's a good way for young people to start up overseas and to export (overseas)." And the establishment of branches can help Korea's economic development. ”

Kim, who showed a strong attachment to the program, said, “I will try to do GYBM business until my death.” Last year, he reportedly added to the GYBM business the wages he received while publishing the supplementary book 'The World is Wide and There's More to Do'.

Kim also expressed his ambition to run a retiree's local employment program following the GYBM project.
