A WhatsApp group formed by minors was the door to carry out an important international police operation against the distribution of child pornography. The National Police has led an action in which 22 people have been arrested. The investigations have been carried out in 11 countries on three continents.
The most striking aspect of the operation is that the vast majority of those allegedly involved in the plot were minors. In fact, as the Police itself notes in its official note, the average age of all those involved is barely 22 years old.
And another of the most striking aspects of the operation, which has been carried out in phases during the last two years, is how those involved used the material, images with child pornography.
They became viral to such an extent that in several of the cases stickers or stickers had been produced in which very young minors appeared sexually abused.
In Spain, 17 people have been arrested and nine others investigated, accused of storing and distributing child pornography through an instant messaging application.
The Chemosh operation , which has lasted 26 months, has been carried out by the Central Cybercrime Unit of the National Police in collaboration with Interpol , Europol and the Costa Rican police forces, Ecuador , France , Guatemala , India , Italy , Pakistan , Peru , United Kingdom and Syria .
In the WhatsApp group, formed by minors, several of their participants had normalized the existence of pedophilia and sexual abuse of other minors. Operation Chemosh was raised from the outset not only as a blow against child pornography in Spanish-speaking chats, but as an attempt to prevent young Spaniards from having contact with pedophile material or dangerous people who could try to ask for their own self-generated material. .
The detainees in Spain belong to all social and cultural strata and do not adapt to a specific profile, except that they are all male and that they are mostly young.
On the Tenerife island of La Palma , the agents arrested a 19-year-old boy who had started in the world of pedophilia through comics in which minors appeared who suffered abuse. He then went on to actively seek sexual material from minors, although he did not usually be an active member of pedophilia groups in fear of being arrested, although he used to instigate other members to share their pedophile material.
In the province of Ciudad Real , was one of the most dangerous of all investigated. In Madrid , three people were arrested, including a child under 15 who wanted to be an administrator of pedophile chat groups and for which he stored a large number of files that he could distribute among the components of those groups. Another of the detainees, a 50-year-old adult, had intellectual disability and frequented minor chat groups.
Another of the detainees is a 21-year-old Bulgarian boy who had fled Italy when a home search was carried out at his home, at the request of the National Police of Spain , so he could not be arrested at that time. He chose Spain to flee without knowing that, precisely, he was traveling to the country that had requested his arrest, so he was arrested at the home of a relative located in Salamanca . He had a lot of child pornography on his mobile phone.
