“You said about the murder of a Georgian, this is not entirely true. I know that a man died in Berlin, this is not just Georgians, this is a man who took an active part in the hostilities on the side of the separatists in the Caucasus. He is not Georgian by nationality. This man was wanted by us, ”Putin said at a press conference in Paris.

He noted that "this is an action movie, and it’s a very tough, bloody man."

“In only one of the actions in which he took part, he killed 98 people. He was one of the organizers of the bombings in the Moscow metro, ”Putin said.

The president added that he did not know "what happened to him."

“This is a gangster environment, and anything can happen there,” the Russian leader said.

Earlier, German authorities announced the expulsion of two Russian diplomats.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that such a decision was made due to the fact that Moscow shows insufficient cooperation in the investigation of the murder of a Georgian citizen in Berlin in August 2019.

On December 4, the German Prosecutor General’s Office said that there was enough evidence of Russia's involvement in this murder.

The department noted that the victim, according to witnesses, participated in the hostilities in Chechnya as part of illegal gangs in 2000-2004.

The Kremlin, in turn, said that assumptions about Russia's involvement in this murder are completely groundless.
