NBA: Anthony Davis crushes everything, Doncic rises even more

Los Angeles (AFP)

The 50 points of Anthony Davis for the victory of the Lakers against Minnesota, the record of Michael Jordan beaten by Luka Doncic: two exploits among others Sunday in the NBA.

. The MVP

After his 39 points on Friday in Portland, Anthony Davis scored 50 against the Wolves (142-125), adding 7 rebounds and 6 assists. His best performance this season.

Ultra-dominant on the inside, "AD" begins to seriously expand his statistical line, as when he shone alone in New Orleans. Except he now has by his side a great "playmaker" named LeBron James who has left him the show, while splitting 32 points (6/8 behind the bow) and 13 assists.

Together, they keep LA at the top of the rankings, with the best record in the league (21 wins, 3 losses).

. The recordman

Stronger than Jordan ... at twenty. Luka Doncic scored her 19th straight game at least 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, setting a new NBA record after equaling "His Airness" the day before. But, he did not stop Dallas's loss to Sacramento (110-106). A break after five successes that relegates the Mavs to 3rd place.

Feelings mixed so for the Slovenian prodigy, who took a long time to enter his match, probably stressed by the issue and wearing sneakers "Air Jordan" history to give all means.

Doncic ended up raising his level of play in the second half, but failed to equalize on a final attempt, embarrassed by a slight foul opponent, not whistled. He finished the match with 27 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds.

The Kings, where Serbia's Nemanja Bjelica scored 30 points, moved up to 10th place.

. The X factor

Two days after the correction received in Milwaukee, the Clippers responded well to Washington with a win (135-119). A score that does not reflect the face of the game pretty tight, decided in the fourth quarter, when the strong men of LA were, as often, Kawhi Leonard and ... Showl Harrell.

The first was the big builder of this success (34 pts, 11 rbds, 5 assists), the second was the finisher, scoring 9 of his 20 points in the money-time, while achieving a counter and several rebounds determining.

A lot of games have been taken off the forceps and in the last moments by the Clippers this season, and Harrell has often been for something. As such, he is among the best 6th men in the league.

With this 17th victory, the Clippers are only second in the West. The Wizards remain 12th in the East.

. The 3rd man

In Philadelphia, the player in great shape currently is neither Joel Embiid, nor Ben Simmons, but Tobias Harris. The back was again the Sixers' best scorer in the 110-104 win over Toronto with 26 points, about his average (25) in early December.

"Philly", where Simmons played the triple-double (16 pts, 11 rbds, 9 assists), at the same time delighted the 4th place, to the delayed Raptors like Pascal Siakam, well contained (16 pts) .

. The "Herro"

Miami is coming back from a long way and he owes it to one of his replacements, the aptly named Tyler Herro. Led almost end to end by Chicago, the Heat ended up winning after overtime (110-105), thanks to its three 3-point baskets scored in crucial moments.

Jimmy Butler (23 pts) had understood that the back had the warm hand, so he served it for the equalizer, then two more times during the five extra minutes, which finally got the better of the Bulls.

Miami, decidedly the surprise team of the season, with unsuspected resources, confirms its 3rd place in the East.
