His Highness, yesterday, opened the activities of the International Conference on Crime Reduction, the first of its kind in the region, organized by the General Command of Dubai Police in cooperation with the Great Minds for conferences and exhibitions over a period of two days, in the presence of a group of international police representatives (Interpol), and police leaders European (Europol), the International Association of Police Leaders, and 25 international police institutions, with the participation of 50 speakers from 45 heads of state to discuss ways to enhance the future of community policing, and exchange best practices and standards in crime prevention and reduction.

Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al-Marri revealed that Dubai Police is currently implementing a strategy to achieve a zero-index for specific crimes, including theft of jewelry, exchange and money-transfer vehicles, by relying on advanced technologies and unconventional solutions, which Dubai Police has been developing during the past period.

Al-Marri told «Emirates Today» on the sidelines of the conference that Dubai Police applies global practices to reduce crime, relying in part on the promotion of that culture among members of society, by facilitating modern means of communication, such as the “e-crime” platform, which It provided a direct and quick window for the public to report and complain, especially from cybercrime, which has become a large proportion of the reporting index.

He added that «the world is facing several challenges at the moment, and we have become in the era of virtual crime, so Dubai police are keen to follow everything new, and this is a major goal of the first conference to reduce crime, as it hosts a group of experts, especially in cybercrime, along with an exhibition of the latest Technologies and security solutions, ”stressing that access to international and regional practices would contribute to expanding and diversifying local expertise.

On the security challenges associated with the frequent electronic attacks that the fastest growing countries are facing, including the UAE, Al-Marri explained that the lesson is the ability to face these attacks, and Dubai Police represents an important arm that works according to a federal and local strategy tight with different partners, including the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, to face any potential attacks, Stressing that this type of crime is constantly evolving, which requires proactive and superior control methods by the information security sector.
