"The message of the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrel, should not mislead anyone about the true meaning of this project: to legitimize the right to intervene in the affairs of other states," TASS quoted him as saying.

According to Kosachev, such sanctions mechanisms are necessary for the EU to explain its citizens disputes with nuclear powers and economic partners, as well as a way to distract Europeans from internal problems.

“The more questions there are for European officials at home, the more concerns about rights and freedoms in other countries are the law of the genre,” he said.

At the same time, Kosachev did not rule out that the new mechanism may not be given the name of Magnitsky.

Earlier, the head of European diplomacy, Joseph Borrel, announced the preparations for launching a global sanctions regime on human rights, similar to Magnitsky’s act in the United States.
